一、注意詞性
如下列情形在中文看來，似乎要用名詞， 而其實要用形容詞(因為它們是作定語的)：
(1) As we all know, France is an______(歐洲) country.
(2) Mr Black devoted himself to______(科學) experiment.
(3) He took an active part in the_____(革命) movement at that time.
答案應該是:(1)European (2)scientific (3)revolutionary
答案不能是:(1)Europe (2)science(3)revolution
二、注意動詞形式
涉及動詞拼寫的句子， 要根據(jù)句子的時態(tài)和語態(tài)等信息來決定所拼寫動詞的形式(是用現(xiàn)在分詞、過去分詞、還是用動詞原形等)：
(1) I have _____(分開) the good apples from the bad ones.
(2) At first he wasn’t ____(認出) by the enemy.
(3) All the people in the country were____(慶祝) the great victory.
(4) It is necessary that the news be _____(宣布) at once.
答案應該是:(1)separated (2)recognized (3)celebrating (4)announced
答案不能是:(1)separate (2)recognize (3)celebrate (4)announce
三、注意修飾關(guān)系
根據(jù)句子的修飾關(guān)系，正確選用適當?shù)男稳菰~或副詞，也是考生要特別注意的：
(1) It is said the girl is _____ (嚴重) ill.
(2) He looks young, but _____(實際上) he is over 50 years old.
(3) It is ______(顯然) that he has stolen the money.
答案應該是:(1)seriously (2)actually (3)obvious
答案不能是:(1)serious(2)actual(3)obviously
四、注意單復數(shù)
若所拼寫的是名詞，還要注意是用單數(shù)還是復數(shù)：
(1) Mr Smith is one of the _____(教授) who have cars of their own.
(2) With her help I have made great _____(進步) in my study.
(3) The world is made up of seven ______(洲) and four Oceans.
答案應該是:(1)professors (2)progress(3)continents

五、注意基數(shù)詞和序數(shù)詞
若所拼寫的是數(shù)詞，還要注意分清是基數(shù)詞還是序數(shù)詞：

(2) My grandfather is ______(九十) years old now.
(3) This is the _____(二十) English novel that I have read.
答案應該是:(1)ninetieth (2)ninety(3)twentieth

六、注意詞語用法
有時這類題還可能涉及詞語辨析與習慣用法：
