other用作形容詞作“別的,其他的,另外的”解時,常用來修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞或不可數(shù)名詞; 如前面有this, that, some, any, each, every, no, none, one等詞時,也可用來修飾單數(shù)名詞。
other用在the或形容詞性物主代詞之后時,與單數(shù)名詞連用表示“(兩個中的)另一個”; 與復(fù)數(shù)名詞連用表示某一集體中“其余的,剩下的(人或物)”。

other用作代詞時常用于復(fù)數(shù)形式,表示“其他的,別的或另外的人〔事物〕”; others若用于the或表示所屬關(guān)系的限定詞后,則表示“其余的人〔事物〕”,即把剩下的全部包括在內(nèi)。
