英語長(zhǎng)句一般指的是各種復(fù)雜句，復(fù)雜句里可能有多個(gè)從句，從句與從句之間的關(guān)系可能包孕、嵌套，也可能并列，平行。所以翻譯長(zhǎng)句，實(shí)際上我們的重點(diǎn)主要放在對(duì)各種從句的翻譯上。從功能來說，英語有三大復(fù)合句，即：①名詞性從句，包括主語從句、賓語從句、表語從句和同位語從句;②形容詞性從句，即我們平常所說的定語從句;③狀語從句正確翻譯英語句子是英語學(xué)習(xí)者必須解決的問題。對(duì)于一些結(jié)構(gòu)復(fù)雜的難句，我們應(yīng)當(dāng)使用技巧使其簡(jiǎn)單化。一般來說，可以使用順序法、逆序法、分句法和插入語靈活翻譯法。這些句子結(jié)構(gòu)復(fù)雜，邏輯性強(qiáng)，翻譯起來困難相當(dāng)大。但是，無論多長(zhǎng)的句子、多么復(fù)雜的結(jié)構(gòu)，它們都是由一些基本的成分組成的。只要弄清英語原文的句法結(jié)構(gòu)，找出整個(gè)句子的中心內(nèi)容及其各層意思，然后分析各層意思之間的邏輯關(guān)系，再按漢語的特點(diǎn)和表達(dá)方式就可以譯出原文了。在長(zhǎng)句的英譯漢實(shí)踐中，我們始終應(yīng)記住英漢在句法結(jié)構(gòu)上的差異，不必拘泥于形式。
