what有時(shí)候可解釋為whatever，表示“不管怎么樣”。

what用作疑問代詞時(shí),其基本意思是“什么,什么東西,什么事情”,用作疑問句,為特殊疑問句的一個(gè)標(biāo)志。
what作關(guān)系代詞時(shí),其含意是“所…的事(物)”�？捎脕硪龑�(dǎo)主語從句,表語從句,賓語從句或同位語從句。當(dāng)引導(dǎo)主語從句,其所指的名詞必定是單數(shù)。主語是單數(shù)時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞一般是單數(shù),但有時(shí)因謂語動(dòng)詞之后有復(fù)數(shù)名詞,謂語動(dòng)詞也可用復(fù)數(shù); what引導(dǎo)賓語從句時(shí),常置于謂語之后,用作表語時(shí),放在系動(dòng)詞之后。what還可引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句,意思是“不管…”。還可接動(dòng)詞不定式短語。
what用作疑問限定詞或關(guān)系限定詞時(shí),含意是“什么”,只用作定語,引出疑問句或從句。例如:What color is it?它是什么顏色的?We don't know what plan they are going to try.我們不曉得他們要試什么計(jì)劃。
what還可用于感嘆句,表示“多么…”,在句中作限定詞。在單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞前用what a,在復(fù)數(shù)名詞和不可數(shù)名詞前用what。例如:What a tall tree it is!多高的樹啊!What genius he has! 他真有才華!What happy children they are!他們是些多么幸福的孩子呀!
what用作副詞時(shí),表示“多少,到什么程度”。例如:What does the new measure benefit the teachers?這個(gè)新措施使教師們得益多大?
